In the wake of the LxAdmin / HostInABox security vulnerabilities recently in the news here at VPSLink and throughout the hosting industry, the apparent suicide of LxLabs’ founder, K. T. Ligesh, has just been reported by The Times of India:
On Sunday night, Ligesh and Sheenu (his roommate) talked and drank till well past midnight and an agitated Ligesh talked about the death of his mother and sister.
While Sheenu went to sleep in his room, Ligesh stayed in his and on Monday morning, Sheenu found that Ligesh had hanged himself.
At VPSLink we’ve found this news particularly troubling, given that Ligesh was in contact with us as recently as Saturday (June 6th) to discuss the future of his software at VPSLink and the possibility of coming to work with us – it is deeply regrettable that this discussion never made it past his initial inquiry.
For those who had the opportunity to work with Ligesh or use the software which he dedicated the final years of his life to developing and supporting, we share your understanding of the loss which his death represents.
The future of the LxAdmin / HostInABox software at VPSLink is uncertain at this time, however, we will provide updates as further information becomes available – for now, we strongly encourage all LxAdmin users to apply the latest security updates.
